The questions you should ask any agency — answered.
- Who owns the code, the hosting accounts, and the data?
- You do. The code we write for you is yours, delivered in repositories you control. Hosting and cloud infrastructure run in accounts you own — Google Cloud, AWS, Shopify — and your customer data stays yours. We build with standard, widely supported technology, so you are never locked in to us.
- Can you show live examples of your work or provide references?
- Yes. Our own platform, CortexCommerce (cortexcommerce.ai), is in production, and its CortexGuard app is live on the Shopify App Store — publicly verifiable proof that we ship production software. The testimonials on this site are from real, named clients, and we provide client references and comparable live examples during a discovery call.
- What does a project cost, and how long does it take?
- Every project gets a written, fixed-scope proposal before we start — no open-ended billing. Published reference points: a focused marketing site typically runs four to eight weeks; the AI Shopping Visibility fix is typically $5,000–$12,000 CAD; an AI Ops Automation Sprint is $5,000–$15,000 CAD and lands in production in about three weeks; a Fractional Head of AI & Digital engagement runs $4,000–$8,000 CAD per month. Larger e-commerce and platform builds are scoped individually with a realistic timeline up front.
- What support do you provide after launch?
- We stay on as a long-term partner, not a vendor that disappears at handoff. Ongoing support and maintenance — fixes, changes, improvements, monitoring, backups, and security updates — is part of every engagement that wants it, with response expectations agreed in writing before we start.
- Should we build on Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, or custom?
- We recommend based on the honest math, not what we'd prefer to sell. Platforms win when your requirements fit their model — faster to launch, cheaper to run. Custom wins when your workflow, performance needs, or integrations outgrow the platform. Because we build all of them, our recommendation isn't biased toward the one tool we happen to know.
- Do you only work with businesses in Toronto?
- No. We're based in the Greater Toronto Area and work with clients across Canada and worldwide. Projects run smoothly remotely — a written plan, weekly check-ins, and demos throughout — and Toronto-area clients can meet in person.
